[Aladdin's quick to run out of his room and start looking for an explanation to this. Magic? Probably? It's probably magic. Not like that makes it any easier to understand. As he explores, he calls out loudly in every direction,]
Hello? Genie? [is this a prank] Anyone?
[He does get distracted when he reaches the foyer and its lineup of portraits, especially when he happens upon his own. While he's currently dressed for his own wedding, his portrait for some reason shows him in the clothes he used to wear. Along with the short bio and everything else, this just keeps getting more confusing. Still, it's kinda cool to see a portrait of himself.]
Huh.
[And if someone else is nearby and notices him lingering, he might explain,]
That's me.
[Like it isn't obvious???]
II. treasure room
[Sure, he promised Babkak, Omar, and Kassim that he'd stop stealing. Also, he promised that to the memory of his dead mother. And yes, he promised himself the lamp would be the last thing he'd steal. And yeah, he definitely doesn't need to steal anymore considering everything that happened to him. But still that doesn't make the treasure room any less tempting, even if it's more out of curiosity than necessity now.
And this is a lot of treasure. Not as much as the Cave of Wonders obviously, but it's impressive nonetheless. Aladdin tentatively picks up a gold necklace to examine it, then sets it down once he's sure the whole place isn't going to collapse or something like that. Better safe than sorry at this point. He looks around the rest of the room, taking it all in.]
Guess whoever owns this place never heard of wealth redistribution.
III. masquerade
[How did they get the Sultan's clothes here and why is there also a matching mask now. He opts to stick with what he was wearing before, since it's fancy enough. Plus he still feels... strange wearing all that, not quite ready. And when he'd been wearing it, he'd been preparing himself to lie for the rest of his life and also that's when Jafar stole the lamp from him so all around, not a great experience.
The mask seems sorta maybe important, though, so he does wear that as he nibbles on food and wishes he could, well, wish he wasn't here.]
Do you think there's a reason they gave us masks? Cause we all know who everyone is and there's the portraits... Or- Wait. Are they magic masks? Do you not know who I am?
Aladdin | ... Aladdin (but like on broadway)
